Predicting an Individual’s Health Outcome

In the New York Times, Pam Belluck highlights a recent study in which immune system activity, as measured through a blood test, is associated with recovery from hip surgery. As noted in the article, this study may herald the development of tests that can be used to better predict a patient’s outcome, leading towards more individualization of health care.
